The staff at the courthouse seems to believe legal aid is available as I was told at the clerk's office and given the telephone number for South Carolina Legal Aid and also on different occasions the judge told me that I could have gotten an attorney. I called South Carolina Legal Aid on different occasions and was told each time that I did not meet the requirements because it is Family Court and the Department of Social Services is not involved. South Carolina Legal Aid does not have the funding to handle Family Court cases. If you have any more or different information on this please email me (email address is on the homepage).
